Concordia Evangelical Lutheran Church

Adult Education
-
Adult Sunday School/Bible Study is held every Sunday morning
(September–May) at 9:15 a.m. in the church library and led by Pastor
Dave Kummer.
-
Parent and Baby Class gathers in middle upstairs classroom on
Sunday mornings at 9:15 a.m.

Weekday Bible Studies are held in the church library on
Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. and on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. Adult Sunday
School/Bible Study is held every Sunday morning (September–May) at 9:15
a.m. in the church library.
Music Programs

Adult Choir meets Thursday evenings, 7:30–9:30 p.m., in
the Music Room and sings at the 10:30 service on Sundays and for special
services from September through May.

Hand Bell Choir
meets Thursday evenings, 6:15–7:30 p.m., in the church library and plays at
services on a regular basis from September through May.

Concordia Choristers (Concordia’s Children’s Choir) meets at
12:00 noon on Sundays and sings during worship periodically throughout
the year.
Concordia's choirs are comprised solely of volunteers, from both the
church and the community. All groups welcome new members at any time. If
you or someone you know is interested in participating in any of the
music programs, please contact David Kelley, Director of Music, in the
church office to set up an interview. Concordia is an affiliate of the
Royal School of Church Music.
Fellowship
-
Learn to Laugh Again – Grief support group gathers for lunch on the third Sunday of every month.

Lunch Bunch – Wonderful lunch gatherings are
held on the first Saturday of every month.

Men's Breakfast – All men are encouraged to attend
and enjoy a hearty breakfast, warm fellowship, and stimulating programs.

Social Events – Picnics,
dinners of 8, progressive dinners, and other fun-filled events are planned
throughout the year.
Worship Assistance
-
Altar Guild – Prepare sanctuary for worship in Sunday mornings
and special services.

Counters – Collect, tally , and deposit collections from
services and reporting to Finance Secretary.

Greeters – Welcome members and guests into the building on
Sunday mornings.
-
Ushers – Assist in seating members and guests, taking up
offerings, leading communicants to the altar rail for Holy Communion.
Outreach Programs
-
Angel Tree – Adopt children of incarcerated women at Christmas to provide gifts and clothing.
-
Beyond Budget Benevolence (BBB) – Financial support beyond our weekly tithes and offerings in support of local homeless ministries – Habitat for Humanity, Sojourner’s Place, LCS rental assistance, Interfaith Housing, and St. Claire’s Medical Van – distribution of funds a few times per year.

Concordia Preschool is a non-profit preschool that is part of the outreach program of Concordia Lutheran Church. The preschool has a wonderful reputation in the community offering programs in a Christian environment for children ages 2–5. Call 478-3876 for more information.

Cradle Role – Contact young families to engage them in our ministry.

Emmanuel Dining Room – The 27th of every month is Concordia's day to serve lunch to the homeless at Emmanuel Dining Room in downtown Wilmington. Each month, Concordia provides casseroles and brownies, prepared and served by volunteers.

Habitat for Humanity – Check the church sign-in bulletin board for Saturdays to wield a hammer or serve a meal.

Hilltop Lutheran Neighborhood Center – Sponsor families in need with gifts and clothing at Christmas. Participate in Hilltop Superstars sports competition and fundraiser.

KenCrest Ministries – providing Christmas gifts for mentally challenged group home residents in New Castle County who do not have family to provide gifts for them.

Lutheran Community Services (LCS) – Medical Drivers – Pick up and escort patients to and from medical appointments. Food Pantry – collect non-perishable food items. Walk Run for Hunger participation and donation. Lutherans Involved in Food Emergencies (L.I.F.E.) - donations of food and finances.

Meals-on-Wheels: Concordia helps deliver Meals on Wheels the last week of every month.

Orphan Grain Train (OGT) – Gather, pack and send household materials and clothing to national and international missionaries.

St. Claire’s Medical Van – collect, clean and donate empty
pill bottles for reuse on medical van.

Sojourners’ Place – Shelter for homeless – donate clothing and lead Wednesday morning Bible Study.

Thrivent Representative – Coordinating matching funds
for mission and ministry activities.

Women’s Prison Ministry – Collect toiletries for incarcerated women.
Youth Ministries
-
Sunday School for ages 3–18 is held at 9:15-10:15 a.m. every
Sunday morning from September through May.
-
Youth Sunday worship services are held periodically throughout
the year and are led entirely by our youth (ages 2 to 20) in an
alternative style.

Senior High Youth Group gathers on Sunday mornings for
study, prayer, praise, and fellowship at 9:15 a.m. in the Youth Room.
Other social and service (including Random Acts of Kindness Everywhere)
activities are scheduled regularly.

7th and 8th Grade Confirmation Classes take place on Tuesdays
during the school year. Retreats, Lock-ins, Fellowship and Service
Events are scheduled throughout the year. See Pastor Dave or Deacon John
for details.

Vacation Bible School gathers for one week each summer in
the evenings for the whole family. Program includes food, fellowship,
crafts, song, and study.

Sunday School for ages 3–18 is held at 9:15-10:15
every Sunday morning from September through may (except 5th Sundays).
